Kelsey Redd:

Today's meditation is a five minute self compassion break. Feel free to use this meditation anytime you notice that you're in a moment of suffering. If you're able to sit or lie down, I invite you to do so now. Otherwise, just find a way to relax and get comfortable. Begin by taking a few slow, deep breaths.

Kelsey Redd:

Allow your body to relax. And we'll start by just bringing awareness to the present moment. You might say, this is a moment of suffering. I'm struggling right now. I'm having a really hard time.

Kelsey Redd:

This doesn't feel good. Without any sort of judgment or criticism, just name the struggle. Allow yourself to note that this is a hard moment. Now connect with the common humanity of this experience by saying one of the following. It's normal to have days like this.

Kelsey Redd:

Anyone would feel this way in this situation. Of course, I'm reacting this way. This makes sense. Everyone has bad days or bad moments. And finally, I invite you to offer yourself a little bit of compassion through some of the following phrases.

Kelsey Redd:

You're doing the best you can. I'm here for you. I see how hard you're trying. I'm so proud of you for doing the best job that you can do. Feel free to come up with any other compassionate phrases that your soul is longing to hear in this moment.

Kelsey Redd:

Maybe even offer yourself a compassionate, soothing touch by holding your hands or folding your arms across each other. Or it may feel supportive to just place a hand over your heart as you whisper, I'm here for you. I love you. Take one more moment to just rest into this self compassion break. Allow your body and your soul to rest into this meditation and these compassionate phrases.

Kelsey Redd:

When you're ready, you can slowly start to open your eyes and return to your day knowing that you can come back to this self compassion break anytime you need.
