46| Listen to Your Body. 10-min Meditation for Body Awareness
Download MP3Welcome to Intentional Motherhood Meditations with Kelsey. In today's meditation, we will be practicing listening to our body, just becoming aware of what our body is telling us. If you aren't able to participate in the whole meditation, there's a key mantra in the show notes below that you can use as you just take some deep breaths and repeat it as you're able to throughout the day. Let's get started. Begin by closing your eyes if you are in a space that's safe to do so.
Kelsey Redd:Start to slow your breath down. Allow your mind to clear. And just feel your body supported against the chair, the bed, the ground, wherever you are. Just really allow your body to relax into the space you're in. Let's take a big deep inhale and hold it at the top.
Kelsey Redd:Exhale, sigh it out. Another big deep inhale. Hold it at the top. And exhale, sigh it out. Do one more of those deep breaths on your own.
Kelsey Redd:Allow your breath to return to its normal rhythm as you start to bring your awareness into your body. Start by bringing your awareness to your toes and feet. Notice any sensations in your feet or even in the ankles And slowly bring your awareness up to your calves and your knees. Noticing anything that you feel without judgment, just as an observer. Notice your thighs, tops of your thighs, the back of your thighs, even up to your buttocks, through your hips.
Kelsey Redd:Notice any tightness or tension, again not with judgement, just with curiosity as an observer. Bring your attention to your low back. Slowly working your way up your spine. Noticing what your body's telling you. Maybe you're feeling like you need to bend or twist a little bit as you work your way up your spine.
Kelsey Redd:Listening to the messages that your body has for you with no judgment, no criticism. Bringing your attention around to the front of your body, notice your gut, your stomach, your diaphragm as it moves with each breath. Notice your chest, your collarbones, Bring your attention to your shoulders and your shoulder blades. Maybe you hear them asking you to roll them out a little bit. Drop them, relax them.
Kelsey Redd:Maybe even bring them up to your ears and push them down. Notice your upper arms. Notice the bend at the elbow all the way down your forearms. Notice your wrists, your hands, your fingers. See if there's a little bit more relaxation you can find in them.
Kelsey Redd:Bring your attention to your neck. Notice any tightness, pinches. Notice if it's asking to be rolled out. You're just observing all the sensations in your body. No criticism, no judgment.
Kelsey Redd:Bring your attention to your face. Can you relax your jaw? Maybe even relax your lips and your tongue. Bring your attention to your eyebrows. Are you holding any tension there?
Kelsey Redd:Bring your attention to your scalp. Now bring your attention to the area all around your body. Your biomagnetic field. Do you notice anything in the area just around your body? Maybe there's a color or a tone or a word.
Kelsey Redd:Now that you've become aware of all the sensations in your body, acknowledge your hard work, your focus with this mantra. My body has a message for me if I am willing to listen. My body is my best friend. When I listen to my body, I hear that it has my highest good in mind and will share what I need to know. Take a few more slow deep breaths as we prepare to come out of this meditation.
Kelsey Redd:When you're ready, slowly start to open your eyes. Thank you for joining me on Intentional Motherhood. Throughout your day today, remember to slow down, take a few deep breaths and listen to your body. Remember, you're doing an amazing job.
